Professional Air Duct Cleaning Team
The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) estimates that the average household needs duct cleaning every three to five years. That said, how often you should schedule a cleaning depends on your home and family; those needs may change over time. What we recommend is scheduling a duct inspection at least every two years. You can then decide whether to proceed with the service based on the visual evidence.
Households with members who have serious respiratory conditions may want to schedule annual cleanings regardless. The NADCA also recommends scheduling after any major home improvement, such as a kitchen renovation or a home addition.
During the inspection, we’ll thread a high-definition camera through the ductwork. That camera will send the video feed to a monitor that you and our HVAC technicians can see. Typically, all you’ll find is dust. In some cases, there may be mold, moisture, or evidence of a pest infestation.
One of the oft-overlooked benefits of a duct inspection is air leakage. The U.S. DOE estimates it’s between 20% and 40% in most homes. That can drive up your heating and cooling costs considerably and causes pollutants to escape through the gaps. Through an inspection, our team can identify the issues that cause leakage. Those include worn seals, loose mounting hardware, and damaged duct panels.
A common concern among people scheduling air duct cleaning for the first time is whether dust will get inside the home. We use a powerful vacuum that creates negative air pressure in the ducts. That ensures that the dust moves in only one direction. These systems have HEPA filtration to ensure they trap all the dust and don’t recirculate it. As an added layer of protection, we also put covers over all the vents.
How long air duct cleaning takes depends on the size of your home. The typical time frame is two to three hours. If you have a large, multilevel home, it could take twice as long.
After cleaning your ducts, we can apply a cleaning agent that sanitizes them. Sanitization isn’t something that the NADCA advises doing regularly, but it’s safe to do it. We only use products approved by the U.S. EPA for use in residential ducts. If you’re scheduling cleaning after many years of not doing it, sanitization is often a good idea. We’ll also recommend it if the ducts have mold, pests, or other hazardous materials inside them.
Routine duct cleaning can provide many benefits:
- Enhanced airflow
- Fresher smelling home
- Higher energy efficiency
- Better indoor air quality
- Longer HVAC equipment lifespan
